EXIF Viewer & Remover

About this tool

A small, private way to see what a photo says about you and remove it before you share.

It is built and maintained by Marcio. Marcio builds small, single-purpose web tools that do one job well and run entirely in your browser. This one exists because the same question keeps coming up in photography and privacy forums: 'what is hidden inside this photo, and how do I get rid of it without installing anything or uploading the picture to a stranger's server?'

Most online metadata removers ask you to upload your picture to their server, which defeats the point for a privacy tool, and many re-save the image and add a round of compression. This one reads the file inside your browser, removes the EXIF, GPS, XMP, IPTC, comment and C2PA blocks, and copies the encoded image data across untouched. It then re-reads its own output so you can see that no metadata remains.

The tool supports JPEG, PNG and WebP. HEIC files are recognised but not edited, because browsers can't yet rewrite that format reliably. The tool is provided free for general use; for high-stakes situations, double-check the cleaned file with a second tool of your choice.

Found a photo it doesn't handle correctly, or a metadata block it should flag? Please get in touch via the contact page.
